As highly sensitive entrepreneurs, we often prefer to avoid spending too much time on social media. It can be draining and at times, extremely overwhelming which can easily lead to burn out.

A great alternative to build your audience is to grow your email list. You may have heard the clichéd saying that the money is in the list? Well it’s still true! To grow your business and make more sales, you need to build an email list of subscribers who are interested in what you have to offer.

If you’re not sure where to start or if you’re struggling to grow your list, then read on. This blog post will share some tips on how to grow your email list, helping you to sell more.

5 Tips For Growing Your Email List by Rose Cox, RTT Therapist and Transformational Coach

1. Create a Great Lead Magnet

Creating a great lead magnet is the first place to start to grow your email list.

If you haven’t heard the term lead magnet before, it is an incentive that you offer potential email subscribers in exchange for their contact information.

There are various types of lead magnets including a free checklist, guide, workbook, discount coupon, video tutorial, a chapter of your book, quiz, or an audio download. Any type of content that is relevant for your audience. When people see the value that you offer for free, they are more likely to remain on your email list.

Once they are on your email list, this is where your welcome and nurture sequences can continue to add value to your niche. Building the know, like, and trust factor.

2. Promote Your Lead Magnet Everywhere

Once you have your lead magnet, you’ll want to make sure you promote it everywhere to help grow your email list. You can add it to the homepage of your website, at the end of your blog posts, and if you are on social media, make sure you link to it often.

If you are a guest speaker on podcasts or virtual online summits, your lead magnet can be a free gift that you offer the audience you are speaking to.

Any marketing methods you are using should regularly promote your lead magnet.

3. Segment Your Email Subscribers

Another way to grow your email list is by segmenting it. This means dividing your subscribers into different groups based on their interests or demographics.

As an example, you could have a list for people interested in aromatherapy, a list for people interested in Ayurveda, and so on.

This allows you to send more targeted content to each type of person in your audience.

Segmenting is vital if you have a variety of offers or are a multi-passionate entrepreneur with different niches.

4. Keep Your Email List Warm

One of the most common mistakes people make is not sending enough content to their email list. This can cause subscribers to lose interest and eventually unsubscribe.

It’s imperative to send out regular content, whether once a day, once a week, or once a month. The key is to find what works best for you and your audience and stick with it!

It’s far better to send a monthly email if you don’t think you can commit to a weekly email. As long as you’re consistent, your audience will know when to expect your emails to arrive. Let them know this in your welcome sequence so they are prepared.

“Action is the only way to make progress. Take action now; don’t wait for a convenient time. It can’t be overemphasized.”

~ Mike Michalowicz

5. Track, Measure and Improve

It’s super important to track and measure the success of your email marketing campaigns. You can do this by looking at the engagement, open rates and click through rates in your email autoresponder.

I use ActiveCampaign for my email autoresponder and their reporting makes it super simple to track and breakdown this data.

Set up a recurring task to do this monthly and keep a spreadsheet with your data.

Over time, you’ll start to see some trends happening which will give you insight into improving future email campaigns.

Wrapping Up

These five tips will help to get you started in growing your email list which in turn will help you to make more sales. One final tip I’d love to share is to focus, not so much on the size of your email list, but rather the engagement on those emails. When your engagement is high, you’ll know you are adding value to your subscribers.
